More than two dozen Olympic champions, trainers and additional global sports figures have signed a letter urging a end to the execution of a boxing titleholder and trainer, who is facing execution in Iran.

Apprehension and Unjust Proceedings

The boxer was detained in early 2020. The charges against him comprised “spreading corruption on Earth through fire-setting and ruin of government belongings”. His sentence has been reversed twice but on October 4 it was maintained on the third occasion. His court case was denounced as “highly unjust” by advocates and bodies.

Appeal to UN

The appeal to stop the boxer's death sentence follows a previous letter to the UN high commissioner for rights, endorsed by in excess of one hundred rights specialists and entities, urging intervention to avert the athlete’s execution.

Capital Punishment Escalation
